On my hook

In my World of Crochet.

August Charity Blitz.

Well I didn’t get much done for the blitz this month. It’s been kind of a rough month with trying some new medicines and such but I hope to get back at it for the next month.

I did end up with 3 hats and 2 pair of booties and will donate some odds and ends of baby supplies to them. I need to gather everything up and meet Barbara somewhere and give her the stuff since she doesn’t live far from me.

Here are my hats and booties.

And these I posted earlier but I thought I’d post them again. I really like this set.

Hopefully I’ll do better next month.

Memphis Trip.

We ran down to Memphis for Keith’s sister in laws surprise birthday party. We took advantage of the ease of going to see everybody in Memphis at one time so we made a weekend of it to relax a bit.

Sunday morning Kaila got to swim in the pool and practice a little of what she had learned in swimming lessons last month.

She can swim a little ways but she just won’t get those legs straight and kick, she looks like she’s riding a bike. Maybe after a few more lessons.

Wilson County Fair.

Every year we try to go to the Wilson county fair. It’s about 30 miles from our house and a really nice little fair.

It was sooooo hot this year. We’ve had record high temps of 99 or hotter and absoultely no rain this summer. Our grass is brown all the trees are dropping leaves and many evergreens and bushes are probably not going to make it back next year. Possibly even some big trees are not going to make it. It’s just been miserable. At least it wasn’t humid on top of all that heat but still.

We braved the heat and went to the fair anyway. We had a good time and waited till later in the afternoon to go hoping for a little cooler air.

Kaila decided for her ride she wanted to jump on this high jumping thing. She’s been a little dare devil this summer but I think that’s coming to an end as she’s finding out these rides she wants to go on make her tummy go WHOO.

She got quite a few good jumps on there before she told the man she didn’t want to jump that high. 🙂

Comfort Quilt for Julie!

So a few of us made some quilt blocks that were of course designed by Cara of the Happy Yellow House and sent the blocks they made to me. I then assembled the quilt and then mailed it to Julie for a pick me up. She is always organizing such fun activities for our little group of followers so we thought it’d be nice to do something nice for her to surprise her.

This is the quilt after it was all assembled and bordered with a sc border in black.

This was a fun project. I really enjoyed being surprised when opening each package of blocks.  It was also fun getting alot of packages in the mail even though they weren’t for me to keep. heehee

It seemed to take the scenic route through the mail to get to her. I couldn’t believe it had to go from here-( Nashville) to sit in Memphis for 2 days then up to Pennsylvania to sit for a few days before going to Ohio. What is that about? I swear the mail is getting worse and worse.

A few more on the done list!

Nursing Home Lapghans ready for August delivery!

I finished my Calliope Quilt lapghan and another lapghan that I used squares I made from the Square along on Crochetville in July.

This Calliope drove me nuts! I’m so glad to have it done but I think it looks pretty good even with the one square I put in wrong. haha Oh well I believe it’s the Amish that put in a mistake on purpose because only God can be perfect, so that’s my mistake in it. 🙂

I started it by using the dusty teal but then didn’t like it so I tried it in the blue and liked it but……. Then I didn’t want to make it a full size so decided to go this way with it. I think it came out OK.

Grannies A La Harper lapghan!

This one I used the Granny A La Harper pattern. I really like this square it works up real fast and as you can see from the link there is no end to the combinations you can work up on these.

Odds and Ends!

The August Charity Blitz is for a local Hope center for women in Nashville. I’ve only gotten 1 hat and 1 pair of booties done so far.

I also got a scrap yarn mouse made for Max!

I’ve also been working on a secret project that I can’t say anything more on right now but in a few days I’ll be able to show everybody.

And I’m up to row 30 on my graph ghan done in Tunisian Stitches. I’m really liking this and can’t wait to try other graphs.

I’ve been working on my Pinwheel Quilt. I’ve gotten 8 blocks put together and 4 of those joined in a strip. I’m going to shoot for making it 9 blocks wide and 10 blocks high to fit on my Queen sized bed. This project will take awhile since I’m using scrap colors. This is what the blocks look like.

We made a Village ghan like this for the auction at Crochetville. I sent in blocks and others sent in blocks and it was donated to Crochetville for the auction. It looked so nice after it was put together that I decided to make one bigger for myself. It brought  $75.00 in the auction.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Well it’s sure been a long time since I finished something 🙂 and finally I got something accomplished!

Here it is the one and only thing I’ve finished in a few weeks…….. Ta Da

The Spiderman Round Ripple!

The reason I haven’t finished anything isn’t because I’ve been just sitting around not doing any crochet lol. I’ve mostly had trouble with getting the yarn I need from Hobby Lobby. This spiderman RR and my graph ghan I started are being done in the new “I Love this Yarn” from Hobby Lobby and for some reason my HL is having trouble getting it restocked! So I ended up getting the yarn I needed from HL in Cool Springs which is not real close by.

At any rate I finally got my yarn and finished the RR and am 18 rows into my graph ghan.

I have been making squares for my Calliope quilt lapghan and made 30 6 inch squares for another lapghan to donate to the nursing home. I’ve started making blocks for the pinwheel quilt bedspread and got my Cotton Swap partners stuff out.
